Fall Out Boy Will Release an Album in November

Looks like both Ashlee Simpson and hubby Pete Wentz are going to wait until after their baby is born before they get back to work. Pete’s band, Fall Out Boy, plans to release their next album in November.

Ready for the title? “Folie a Deux.” Pete explained this as, “It means ‘the shared madness of two’ - thank you, Dictionary.com.”

Wonder if he’s referring to him and Ashlee with that title?

Jessica Simpson Called “An Insult to Train Wrecks”

August 30, 2008 by Cherie

Jessica Simpson performs at Casino

Just when you think Jessica Simpson is making a positive impression on the country world, she appears onstage in a gingham dress and looks like she’s ready to pull out a bail of hay.

Could the dress she wore have brought on this very negative review of her latest performance in which she was called an “insult to train wrecks”? Possibly.

According to one source, “music critic John Law took Simpson to task for her disappointing show.” He caught her performance in Niagra Falls, and said:

“It might be unfair calling Jessica Simpson’s show at the Avalon Ballroom Wednesday a train wreck. At some point, a train knows where it’s going.”

One thing that put this critic off was Jessica’s “need for approval” up on stage. She seemed to talk too much between songs about previous relationships, her need for love, and what each song supposedly means to her. She’s gotten a lot of attention for talking about Tony Romo too much up on stage too.

The reporter goes on to say, “Simpson arguably brought on the harsh criticism herself, spending several minutes between songs to explain what each one was about in her trademark oblivious style.”

It didn’t help that at another point she called “Dusty Springfield” DESTINY Springfield either.

The general feeling is that critics don’t take her seriously and don’t think this latest move to country will last for the long haul. Fans will get a chance to voice their opinions when Jessica’s album comes out September 9th. Will you buy it?

John Mayer Says: A Rolex for Milady

John Mayer shows off tattoos as he is seen on his way to the airport for a concert tour

Apparently John Mayer is very generous with gifts when it comes to the girls he dates. He supposedly gave both Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson several gifts, including a rolex for each.

So what I’m wondering is if he just gives the same gifts to whatever girl he’s with? If so… TACKY.

Hey John, a girl likes to think she’s special and that includes the gifts you might give!

Jessica Simpson Plays the California State Fair

August 29, 2008 by Cherie

There’s a great article over at CMT about Jessica Simpson’s performance at the California Country Fair this past weekend. She played to about 2,000 people, all of who got free admission to the show.

On the whole, the reporter was very positive about her outing. He said her performance seemed to show that her upcoming album, Do You Know? has “a lot more depth than the first single, “Come On Over,” would indicate.”

On the not so positive side, it seems that Jessica still doesn’t seem to get the fact that she shouldn’t yak about Tony Romo or the Cowboys at every concert. The reporter said, “When she chirped, “Go Cowboys!,” she got booed.”

Bottom line is: not everyone is a Cowboy’s fan, Jess.

Another negative was when she had to start the song “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under” again because she forget the lyrics. The audience had to shout the next line to her. Here’s a clip of that disaster (the goof up is about halfway in.)

She also talked more about her “abuse claim, saying “”I realized how much value I had lost when I was in a certain relationship and how much self-confidence I lost.” You’ll notice that the more she talks about this supposed “abuse,” the more it sounds like she was in relationship where the guy wasn’t totally in love with her. He didn’t fawn all over her. So this is abuse? If she was really abused, she wouldn’t be tossing this word around so lightly.

All in all, it sounds as if fans were enthusiastic about her performance. Here’s another clip, this time of her singing her pop tune, “With You.”

Ashlee Simpson Scared She Won’t Fit Into a Size Zero

August 29, 2008 by Cherie

Apparently Ashlee Simpson really wants to lose her baby weight fast after her October 31st delivery.

One source claimed that she broke into tears when she realized how much baby weight she had gained at the doctor’s office. It was over the edge of what “normal” weight gain is and she freaked out when she realized how big she was getting.

Not only that, but after the doctor’s appointment she rushed out to buy “six pairs of size zero jeans to motivate her to lose weight.”

Yikes. Well, I’m not sure how much I really believe this one, but I’ve heard it a couple times now from different people. I think she probably is concerned about her weight a bit and then those pregnancy hormones don’t help either. The thing that strikes me here is that she always seems so balanced in the way she approaches things, so I wonder if she’s just focusing on this a little too much?

Besides that, I think she looks great. I’ve never seen a more adorable pregnant lady!

Jessica Simpson Talks to 107.5 The River

August 28, 2008 by Cherie

Michael Kors - Front Row - MBFW Spring 08

Jessica Simpson gave an interview to radio station 107.5-The River last week where she talked about the usual subjects: her new country album, boyfriend Tony Romo, the fued with Carrie Underwood, and of course, farting. (That’s our Jess!)

Let’s start with the most interesting one first. It’s obvious Papa Joe has done some damage control with the whole Carrie Underwood thing and I think it’s good. Jessica has been answering this question very smartly. Take a listen.

I’m not sure I believe that Jessica didn’t know that Carrie was a vegetarian, but I couldn’t blame her for wearing the shirt even if she did. Carrie seems to be adding fuel to this fire by saying publicly in an interview that Tony still calls her. I’d say the issue is Tony here, if he is calling Carrie all the time he might be trying to get Jess jealous on purpose.

I’m not the only one that’s noticed how Jessica is answering questions differently about Carrie these days. The Country Hound quotes Jessica as saying:

“People are just trying to make a story out of nothing. I respect her and hopefully she respects me. We’ve just dated the same guy — that’s it! I think it’s impressive how many No. 1s Carrie Underwood has,” Simpson said. “Her choice in songs is really great, and she has an incredible voice. As far as new people, she has one of the strongest voices out there.”

This is a very smart answer, especially given the fact that Jessica and Carrie will probably be seeing lots of each other in the upcoming months (and years) at country shows.

As a side note, did you catch the last thing Jessica said on the video? It was an ever so slight slam against Pam Anderson. Right on Jess!

In this next part of the interview, Jessica talks about “the curse” that fans have blamed her for.

This next part of the interview is probably my least favorite. For some reason both Simpson sisters tend to talk quite a bit about burping and farting. Jessica mentions it here in this segment.

I think there’s no reason to be talking about this in interviews, and I wondered why Jessica keeps bringing it up. Then I read this bit from CMT (Country Music Television) in which the reporter speculated, “Country artists, especially the women, tend to do better when fans realize they’re just normal people who do normal things.”

Hmm. Could it be Papa Joe’s hand at work again? Or just a candid Jessica moment?

Meanwhile, Ted Casablanca from E! Online says that Jessica “just signed herself up for a membership with the Country Music Association, meaning she can nominate and vote for CMA Awards.”

Ashlee Simpson Talks Knitting and Babies

Ashlee Simpson promotes clothing line

There’s a very cute interview with Ashlee Simpson over at The Western Star.com. They caught up with Ashlee while she was at Zeller’s promoting the Request clothing line.

Among the things she talked about was knitting. Apparently Ashlee is a knitter! She hasn’t made anything for her baby yet, however. She says, “”I really like to do it (knitting) but I always kind of have a hole in it.”

She also touched on whether her and Pete Wentz plan to move out of their home and live in New York or Chicago when the baby comes. “We haven’t decided where we’re going to raise our kid but for the first year we’ll stay in California.”

At least we’ll get to see Ashlee around for a while yet. Check out the rest of her interview here.

Ashlee Simpson Is Ready for Baby Time

Pete Wentz Celebrates His 29th Birthday At Angels & Kings Chicago

Ashlee Simpson was at Zellers this past weekend, and gave a short interview where she talked about her pregnancy. When asked about the upcoming birth of her baby, she said her and her husband, Pete Wentz, are very excited to be parents.

“I can’t wait to be a mom and he can’t wait to be a dad, so it’s fun. I have the greatest husband.”

She also said they hadn’t picked out a name yet, and that she was getting lots of advice from her mom and grandmother. She also said she knew her own mothering skills would kick in once the baby was born. I have to say I agree.
