Ashlee Simpson on The Jay Leno Show

Last Thursday, I heard rumors that Ashlee Simpson-Wentz would be appearing on the Friday night episode of the Jay Leno Show. However, when I went to the show’s Web site, she was not on the calender, so I assumed it was false information. However, it turns out she did appear on the show to participate in Jay’s 10 at 10 segment.
She answered the questions via a live video feed from Melrose Place. To read a rough transcript of the Q&A session…
Jay Leno: Last lie you told…
Ashlee Simpson-Wentz: “The last lie that I told? I don’t know. I’m not a big liar. [Audience laughs]. I’m not a big liar. That’s a lie.” Totally cute. Love her laugh!
JL: “You’re from Texas…do you know the state song and can you sing it for us?”
ASW: “I do. The Texas state song is really boring tho. [Sings a bit of it]. The one that everyone knows is…[sings it]…DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS. Yee haw!” Leno responds: “We can accept that!”, Ash says, “My grandparents would be happy.” Ha. Props to her. I don’t even know what my state song is. I think its Louie, Louie…
JL: “Do you have any lucky charms?”
ASW: “I do, and his name is Bronx. He’s my son. That’s about as lucky as you get.” Awwww…
JL: “ABC…Melrose Place is a successful show because, A) it has great writing and stories, B) has a great cast or C) because it’s not on NBC.”
ASW: [She laughs].” Oh gosh. All three!”
JL: “Ever ask anybody for an autograph, if so, who?”
ASW: “You know what, I have. I was younger and I was a big fan of Ashley Judd and I asked her for an autograph, and she said no.” Leno responds, “Wow! Why would she say no, why? Ash jokes, “DENIED, DENIED, man. I don’t know. I was probably stalking her or something. I’ve never asked anyone else for an autograph.” I never would have figured Ashley Judd for a hostile celebrity.
JL: “ABC…Your husband said for his birthday, you gave him the best gift ever. It was A) a creative video that featured your son, B) a new Mercedes or C) you can’t say it on a tv show.”
ASW: ““OOOOH. I’m definitely going to have to say C.” Saucy!
JL: “Who got better grades in school, you or your sister Jessica?”
ASW: “Me.” [Audience laughs very loudly]. Leno responds, “I just kind of guessed at that one.” Kind of a rude response. You can tell that Ash though the question was baiting her.
JL: “Do you have any tattoos and can you show them to us?”
ASW: “I do have tattoos. I’ve got my wrist, [shows it] I’ve got a peony right here. Got a heart right here [on her finger]. I’ve got a peace sign on my middle finger and no Jay, I’m not going to flick you off. And I’ve got a Love and a 3 right here.” Leno asks, “Any hidden ones?”, Ash laughs and responds, “Any hidden ones? Not that I would tell you!” I’m a huge tattoo aficionado. I love her tattoos!
JL: “In 15 seconds, can you name 5 cast members from the old cast of Melrose Place.”
ASW: “Heather Locklear, Jack Wagner, Laura Leighton, Thomas Calabro, and Marcia Cross.”
JL: “Who was your idol growing up?”
ASW: “I guess it was Ashley Judd until it all went down. And then it was Alanis Morrisette, but my parents wouldn’t let me go to her concert because she said the F word, so I never got to see her in concert.”
Totally cute interview. It was so sweet that she said Bronx is her good luck charm. Hope she does more TV appearances soon!
