Ashlee Simpson returning the Broadway?

The past few months have been undoubtedly rough on Ashlee Simpson-Wentz in terms of media coverage. From alleged marriage troubles with hubby Pete Wentz to being let go from Melrose Place, entertainment media hasn’t exactly been Ash’s best outlet for positive publicity. So it seems as if she is taking things into her own hands and making good news happen for herself!

According to OK! Magazine, Ash may be reprising her role as Roxie Hart in the classic Broadway hit Chicago. In 2006, she played Roxie for five weeks in London. However, if this news is true, she will be hitting the stage in New York City this time.

And if you’re wondering how good she would be on the stage, considering all the flack she has received for her portrayal of Violet on Melrose, then take Perez Hilton’s word for it:

“We actually saw her in Chicago in London and she was pretty good! Surprisingly.” 

Pretty big endorsement for someone who refers to her as Asslee!

Personally, I think this is exciting news. I love Broadway, I love Chicago (the city AND the musical), and I love Ashlee. All three is a combination made in musical theater heaven!
