So, we kinda figured this was coming, right? Ashlee Simpson-Wentz canceling her planned tour for Bittersweet World.

I mean, the girl can’t be jumping all over the place while on tour!

Wait… J-Lo did it. And she was pregnant with twins. Hmmm.

Still, I don’t blame Ashlee for wanting to focus on her family life right now.

And by the way, did you see the new name? Yep, Ashlee is taking Pete’s last name. One source quotes Ash as saying, “I think that’s something that a woman should do when they’re marrying a man.”

It doesn’t surprise me that Ashlee is taking Pete’s name. When all is said and done, I think both her and Jess are traditional gals and they want a traditional (and somewhat old-fashioned) life.

What do you think? Should Ashlee have taken Pete’s name?

I think its fine she took his name, whatever she wanted to do. i think it’s crappy she is saying it’s something “women” should do, that’s putting her value’s on other people. I didn’t change my name, I don’t care what other people do because people should do what makes THEM happy.

Well women DO take the men’s name traditionally so I don’t think it was “crappy” that she said it. I think it shows that she’s an old fashioned girl at heart. There’s nothing wrong with that.

sorry to say but you’re missing the point. Traditionally yes. But that doesn’t mean women HAVE to take the men’s last name. what me said is basically that it’s not right that Ashlee is saying “women” should do it because she’s pushing her values onto others. and I thought you wanted a discussion so me, said that it’s crappy and honestly I agree with her I like her and I think she should do what she wants but to say women should do it is a little pushy.

I think you just repeated the same thing I did. DOH!

You said it was CRAPPY that she said that. I don’t think so. Women can go the traditional or nontraditional route, either way is fine.

I DO think it’s unusual in Hollywood for women to take the last name of their husbands when they’ve established themselves in their maiden name. Professionally, that’s harder to do.

I did? I do think either route is fine however stating that she thinks this is what women should do probably is a little bit pushing it don’t ya think?

Anyway you still aren’t seeing what I’m saying. It’s crappy what said said in the sense that she’s implying WOMEN SHOULD do you see it now? I don’t mean it’s crappy what she did and yes she can be traditional or not but to say SHOULD is implying that all women should do it.
So that’s what I mean by crappy not that she’s crappy for saying that or that she can’t go traditional.

I agree it is harder but it’s what you want I guess I prefer her using her maiden name cuz now it just sounds weird.

Maybe if she just put down “Ashlee Wentz” it would sound better. But no, she made the long-hypenating mistake. I don’t think that it is something that “women” should do either. She should have said something about how she feels so should do it…NOT OTHER WOMEN!

rlc: Yeah, I agree. It does sound weird. I have a feeling many people will still refer to her as just “Ashlee Simpson.”

Mnl: Yes! Ashlee Wentz sounds better. The hyphenated deal is a little hard to get used to.
