If you like Jessica Simpson (and if you’re reading this blog, I’m guessing you do!) you might like to know that Charity Folks is auctioning off a Dukes of Hazzard poster signed by Jessica, Sean William Scott, and Johnny Knoxville.

Charity Folks, for those of you that don’t know, is a wonderful service that has people bid on entertainment and sports items, and then gives a portion of it back to charity.

The last time I checked the bid for this was only at $100.00, so if you or someone you know is a big Jessica fan, this might make a wonderful present!

So I was browsing through Yahoo the other day, and came across a list of “singers who shouldn’t act.” I suspected that Jessica Simpson might be on that list, but I had to look anyways. Sure enough, she’s listed as #2. (Vanilla Ice was #1.)

I’m not sure I agree that Jessica shouldn’t act at all. I still go back to a few times I’ve seen her and she seemed okay. But she doesn’t seem to have the acting chops that Ashlee has.

Incidentally, Jessica’s country idol Dolly Parton is #10 on the list.

What do you think? Should Jessica hang up the acting and just stick with singing?

Remember Jessica’s film, Major Movie Star? It never opened in the U.S., but apparently it’s a big hit in Russia. According to one source it debuted at the top of the box office a few weeks ago.

As yet there is no U.S. release date. Can anyone say “direct to video”?

Here’s a clip from Jessica Simpson’s new movie, Major Movie Star.

The imdb gives a synopsis of the film as:

When fluffy, bubble gum movie star Megan Parker suddenly finds herself broke and humiliated in the public eye, she wanders from the wreckage of a car accident and witlessly enlists in the U.S. Army hoping in vain that it will change her life.

Sound familiar? A bit like Private Benjamin perhaps?

Yeah, some in the media are already saying this movie is a ripoff, although I have to say I think this could be a great role for Jessica. She could do something different with it than Goldie Hawn did, and give it her own little mark.

The one thing that disappointed me about the clip is that there doesn’t seem to be that many big stars in it. Vivica Fox, Steve Guttenberg and Cheri Oteri aren’t exactly the Hollywood heavy hitters. Which means that Jessica is carrying this movie on her own star power. So if it bombs, it’s another mark against her.

This could be a mute point if the film is a big success. One positive thing is that Travis Schuldt seems to have a small role in the film. (He’s Keith, the hottie that was dating Elliot on Scrubs.) He’s also in the following clip. Enjoy.

Did you guys see the movie Undiscovered?

Yeah, not many people did. It came out in 2005 and is about “a group of aspiring entertainers try to establish careers for themselves in the city of Los Angeles.” ~source The group is “undiscovered,” hence the title.

It’s rather a bad film, but I think Ashlee Simpson stands out very well. She shows that she’s way ahead of Jessica in the acting department. Unfortunately, most of America didn’t seem to agree with me. Ashlee got nominated for a Razzie Award in 2006 for the “worst supporting actress.”

Anyway, one good thing that came out of the film is this song, “Smart In A Stupid Way.” I love the way her voice sounds in this duet, and think her performance is very real. Check out this video:

The Love Guru is out right now, and if you didn’t know, our own Jessica Simpson makes a cameo in the flick!

She looks beautiful (of course) and plays herself. Mike Myers (The Love Guru) greets her and touches her head, and she (of course!) has an orgasm. Here’s a clip:

Jessica Simpson is starting a country career and has a new single that is getting a lot of attention. But is it good? Will it help make Jessica a country star?
