Hehe, my bad, I guess Jessica and Lane grew up together.  They must be just friends.  Here’s what Lane’s IMDB profile says:

At seventeen and unable to get along with his mother, he left home and moved in with Joe Simpson — the manager and father of pop stars Jessica Simpson and Ashlee Simpson.

So yeah, that would make sense that they had lunch together.  They’re like siblings!
