Video: Jessica Simpson and Ozzy Osbourne Sing Winter Wonderland

December 9, 2008 by Cherie

I’ve been playing videos here and there from Jessica Simpson’s Christmas album, Rejoice. I think you’ll agree that Jessica’s take on the Christmas songs is very fun for many of the songs, and inspirational for others. She did some great duets with Nick Lachey and also her sister Ashlee, but perhaps the best pairing on Rejoice is Ozzy Osbourne.

HOW they got Ozzy Osbourne to do this is beyond me. But it is truly a fun video. A little naughty, I won’t kid you. After all, it’s Ozzy FREAKIN’ Osbourne! He acts up and Jessica tries to reel him back in. As you’d expect. Plus, I was very surprised that Jessica and Ozzy’s voices really meshed well together. Go figure.

Here’s the video. Enjoy!

Don’t forget that you can win a copy of Rejoice here and also at the Gossip on Sports blog. Hurry tho! Times almost up for both contests!

This is a pretty cool deal. According to one site, “The Wet Seal Inc. has launched a promotion with the band Fall Out Boy where the band’s new release will be bundled with a tee from band member Pete Wentz’s Clandestine label.”

A Fall Out Boy album AND a Pete Wentz tee? I’m in!

Apparently Wet Seal will also run a contest where fans can compete to be in the next Fall Out Boy video. Check out the Wet Seal website for more info.

Video: Ashlee Simpson Clips

November 29, 2008 by Cherie

This is an awesome video that our dedicated reader Georgia sent in. It’s a combo of clips that look like they came from the old Ashlee show. We get to see both Ashlee and Jess as little girls (so very cute), then Ashlee as she is about to shoot her first video, then the “buffalo wings” commercial Ash and Jess did, and even that crazy Christmas duet they did on Jessica & Nick’s Christmas special.

It’s a great video featuring Ashlee. Enjoy! (And thanks again Georgia :)

Fall Out Boy Pushes Back Album Release

October 22, 2008 by Cherie

2008 MTV Video Music Awards - Arrivals

Fall Out Boy has pushed back their album, Folie a Deux, to be released on December 16th rather than on Election Day. They said, “Six months ago we thought it would be a fun idea to release our album on election day but this is not the election to be cute.” ~source

Well, heck, it’s not like Pete Wentz won’t already have his hands full in November with a newborn or anything! All things considered it’s probably good that they are waiting to release the album. Pete will probably be too busy (or tired) to really help promote it.

Jessica Simpson Performs at Lowe’s Motor Speedway Tomorrow

October 10, 2008 by Cherie

Jessica Simpson - Country Thunder USA

Want to see Jessica Simpson this weekend?

Now really, who wouldn’t? Jess will be perfoming at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway tomorrow at a “40-minute pre-race concert” where she’ll also sing the National Anthem. You can get in free to her concert with the purchase of a ticket to the Bank of America 500. Think she’ll sing “You’re My SATURDAY” to Tony?

Yeah, probably not.

Pete Wentz Says That Video Ain’t What We Agreed On!

September 27, 2008 by Cherie

Have you heard the scuttlebutt over Fall Out Boy’s first single? It seems the iTunes version of “I Don’t Care” had a bunch of long shots for a Nokia camera phone in it and it wasn’t supposed to. Pete Wentz and the guys are claiming that the new version was released without their approval or input.

Pete said on a blog post:

“The version of the video that we worked on night after night is not the version that aired, yet somehow a cut full of glorious camera-phone shots did,” Wentz wrote in a blog post about the incident late Thursday. “It doesn’t make any sense to us. … Imagine seeing this edit only after you buy the video off of iTunes and realizing that no one even had the ba–s to call you and tell you they were changing the video and cutting parts.”

It appears that the original blog post he wrote has been taken down, and the iTunes version has been replaced as well.

Now here’s the thing…. I love Pete Wentz and think he’s really a great guy for Ashlee. But I wonder sometimes if he’s being truthful. After all, he has clearly fibbed about some other things in the press. So maybe this is a ploy to get publicity for his band?

Regardless if it is or not, I don’t care. The song is awesome. Check it out:

I’m sure the album is good too. Can’t wait to hear it come November.

Pete Wentz Wants His Baby to Like His Music

September 25, 2008 by Cherie

2008 MTV Video Music Awards - Arrivals

I never realized this before, but when you have kids it’s got to be tough to do things like pick out music for your record. After all, what if your kids hate what you do for a living? Pete Wentz said recently that when he started recording his new album with his band, Fall Out Boy, it brought “extra pressure because he wants his impending new arrival to like his songs.”

He joked that having his kid like his music was far more pressure than anything a record company could give him about it. He also addressed the question that he and Ashlee Simpson might do a duet together some day. Although, seriously people, how many times are people going to ask him this? He and Ashlee have already said a ba-jillion times that they aren’t going to sing together. (Although they also said Ash wasn’t pregnant and that it was a boy… then a girl… )

Pete said he and Ashlee try and “be sounding boards” for each other however. He added, “Besides, I think the last thing she’s thinking about right now is the new Fall Out Boy record!”

Love that Pete, don’t you?

Jessica Simpson’s New Album Out Today!

September 9, 2008 by Cherie

Today’s the day!

Jessica Simpson’s new country album, Do You Know, is officially released.

Will you buy it? As you can see by the poll at right, the majority said you definitely will buy Do You Know today and that you’re a Jessica fan all the way. But it’s close to those who think Jess is a poser and said they wouldn’t buy it. Some of those folks may be Ashlee fans more than Jessica, but my prediction is that Jessica’s record will be a hit.

I like many of the songs on Do You Know. Looks like I’m not alone. Even though the album has generally gotten 2-3 stars out of 5 with critics, they still maintain that’s worth the money. And as this reviewer pointed out, “Regardless of what the critics think, Simpson has already won over perhaps her toughest audience: country radio.”

That means you’re likely to hear the songs on Do You Know a lot in the upcoming weeks and months.

Here’s the songlist:

1. Come On Over

2. Remember That

3. Pray Out Loud

4. You’re My Sunday

5. Sipping On History

6. Still Beautiful

7. Still Don’t Stop Me

8. When I Loved You Like That

9. Might As Well Be Making Love

10. Man Enough

11. Do You Know (with Dolly Parton)

Fall Out Boy’s Album Flavor

September 7, 2008 by Cherie

Pete Wentz and the guys from Fall Out Boy are gearing up for the release of their next album. According to Rolling Stone magazine they worked with producer Neal Avron again (as they did with the previous two albums) and “made a decision to dial back the heavily multitracked sound of their last album.” Pete, ever the soundbyte, said, “we focused on making an ambitious record without giving the impression of making an ambitious record.”

Lead singer Patrick Stump also said he and Pete had a bit of an argument over some of the tracks, adding, “I threw something across the room over a major-to-minor progression.”

The album, titled Folie a Deux, deals with celebrity as part of their subject matter. (Which obviously Pete knows a lot about, especially given his marriage to Ashlee Simpson. They really can’t go anywhere without getting photographed.)

Fall Out Boy is also hoping Kanye West, Pharrell and Panic at the Disco will lend their voices. The album is expected to be released on Election Day.
