Jessica Simpson’s Macy’s commercial is set to air, and if you haven’t seen it yet it’s very cute. I like it a lot better than the last one she did.

In the commercial, Jessica works with Tommy Hilfiger and Michael Kors to give one woman a makeover. Clinton Kelly, from What Not to Wear, also helps transform the woman. (And she really does look great when she leaves Macy’s!)

Here’s the commercial:

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz Head to Fresh Faces in Fashion in Chi-Town

October 6, 2008 by Cherie

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz were in attendance at Gen Art’s 6th Annual Fresh Faces in Fashion event in Chicago the other night. The Trib says, “Fall Out Boy bass player Pete Wentz and Plain White T’s drummer De’mar Hamilton (”Hey There Delilah”)” “splashed a shot glass’ worth of red-carpet buzz over Fashion Focus, now in its fourth year of promoting the city’s fashion industry.”

I think it’s more than a shot glass worth of buzz, especially with Pete Wentz involved. People said Ashlee and Pete also caught up with his dad and some friends while in town. Apparently they had a “late dinner” at “David Burke’s Primehouse inside Chicago’s The James Hotel” and were very “lovey dovey” with each other. Wonder if Ashlee and Pete are also scouting houses in Chicago while they’re there?

Pete Wentz: Hoodie Man

September 29, 2008 by Cherie

Pete Wentz shopping at Ermenegildo Zegna in Beverly Hills. Even in the high temperatures Pete was wearing a winter hoody!

He’s a rocker, hubby, soon-to-be dad, and now, designer. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Pete Wentz is your new hoodie man! Which seems natural, because it’s not like the guy is going to design handbags. He sat down with the Chicago Tribune to talk about his new hoodie line for Clandestine Industries line of hoodies (and some other things.) Here’s a couple highlights.

With regard to his involvement in the hoodie line, Pete claims he is very into (almost) every aspect of the line. He says:

“I insert my ideas into everything from creation to marketing and come up with the initial sketches—though I am not particularly wicked with the needle and thread. I also have a great team that I rely on and are the glue who hold Clandestine together.”

When asked about why he decided to do a fashion line, he said:

“It’s kind of like asking a tiger why he likes the jungle better than the cage. It’s no fun being stuck in the zoo.”

Uh. Okay.

And when asked to “rank” his occupations in order of priority:

“For sure, my family always comes first—but as far as my career goes, I’m not the kind of person that prioritizes, but I would say my band Fall Out Boy comes above anything and everything else I do.”

Jess and Ashlee readers, will you buy Pete’s line of hoodies?

Jessica Simpson Visits Radio DJ’s Chad and CJ

September 26, 2008 by Cherie

Jessica Simpson chatted with 106.7 DJs Chad and CJ yesterday. Since the show is in Detroit the DJs asked Jess if she knew anyone from the area, and she admitted that Ken Paves was originally from there. I had no idea. (A bit of trivia there.)

The clip below gives the start of the interview, where they ask Jess about her purse line and her dog. She seems a bit confused at both questions at first, making me think this interview was perhaps very early in the morning. One cool tidbit that did come out was that she said she named her dog Daisy and then got the part of Daisy Duke about six months later. She says she doesn’t know how she came up with that name, but I do know that she was reading the script then so perhaps it got in her subconscious somewhere.

Anywho, here’s the first part of the interview.

The rest of the interview can be found on the DJs home page. Interestingly enough, if you click on that page you’ll see that directly below Jessica is a picture of Dane Cook. (Jess’s rumored ex.)

Pete Wentz Dons a Bakery Delivery Getup to Promote His New T-Shirt Line

September 15, 2008 by Cherie

Pete Wentz wears a wig and passes out cupcakes

Oh that Pete Wentz! He’s definitely entertaining if nothing else. According to Splash News, Pete wore this hiliarious get up and drove up and down Melrose Avenue to pass out tee shirts to promote his upcoming album. I especially love the oven mitts on his hands. Nice touch.

But lest you think this ploy was done randomly, E! Online says it was “Pete Wentz copying the Jonas Brothers who copied the Beastie Boys with a fake mustache, bad wig and big, vintage glasses, because it really never gets old.”

It really never does, that’s true. It’s rumored even Ashlee Simpson drove by to check it out. (How could she not? Take a look at the photos!)

Jessica Simpson to Design a New Dress Line

August 7, 2008 by Cherie

Her shoes are mad popular, and now Jessica Simpson is designing a new line of dresses! So you’ll be able to wear Jessica’s merchandise now from head to toe. Many people are excitedly awaiting the new line, and why not? Jess is known for her style and for always looking great. (Being blessed with great genes doesn’t hurt either.)

It’s unfortunate that at the same time her dress line was announced, Jessica chose to wear this hideous getup out. E! Online likened it to a hefty bag.

Still, even when her dress is wonky, take a look at the beautiful pose:

She looks like she’s on a magazine shoot, not walking around out on the street! (Darn her! haha)

Christmas in July for Jessica Simpson

July 28, 2008 by Cherie

Jessica Simpson is getting ready to do another round of commercials for Macy’s.

julysimpson_25_sp.jpg

If you remember the last one she did (pictured), she was shown getting her Jessica Simpson collection ready for shoppers. Other celebs, like P. Diddy, Donald Trump, and Martha Stewart were in the commercial as well. Jessica is wandering around the store and trips over a power cord, leaving the whole place in the dark. Then Martha Stewart says, “Jessica….. darling……” and Jessica says, “My bad” and plugs it back in.

It was a cute commercial, and especially with the rest of the celebrities Macy’s had in there it really was a nice high profile spot for Jess. So it should be interesting to see what their next take on these commercials are. I’d like to see Jess get away from the “ditzy blonde” image a bit going forward, but I understand how it worked in the previous set of commercials. Maybe next time Martha can trip and Jess can ask HER to turn the lights back on?

Didn’t catch it the first time around? Here it is for your viewing pleasure:

Jessica Simpson Takes on “The Body”

July 19, 2008 by Cherie

I remember watching Newlywed’s, and on one particular episode the topic of conversation was turned to that of Elle Macpherson. If I recall correctly, Jessica Simpson was just about to pose for “elle” magazine and somehow the talk got switched to “Elle Macpherson.” (Which seems very mixed up but then this was Jessica at her crazy blonde best.)

Papa Joe, Jess, and Nick Lachey were all sitting around a coffee table, and Jess was saying that her father (stage dad extraordinaire) once commented on how perfect Elle Macpherson’s butt was. He did this, of course, while he was still a pastor in church. It was a funny moment at the time, and I wonder if we looked back then if we could tell that one day Jess would rival Elle Macpherson, not in the model department but over the making of underwear.

One source says Jessica’s latest line of panties and bras will be called “Jessica Simpson Intimates.”

Why is this a big deal? This particular source says that Elle “The Body” Macpherson “has built the Elle Macpherson Intimates range into one of the most successful and enduring celebrity fashion lines” and that Jessica jumping on in there and calling her line Intimates as well “is expected to come as an unwanted shock for The Body.”

At first this sounded like absolutely hogwash to me, but then the story went on to say that Elle had fought Heidi Klum over trying to use the name “The Body” for a Victoria’s Secret photo.

Oh those crazy supermodels!

No word on what Jess plans to do next.

Pete Wentz’s WentzPentz

June 28, 2008 by Cherie

jessandashspjun_25_sp.jpg

Pete Wentz loves to experiment with eyeliner and makeup, and now he has his own brand of eyeliners for guys (or “guyliners”) called WentzPentz. One source calls them “a new wave in men’s grooming.”

I’m not sure how I feel about men’s grooming products. I mean, I think makeup and eyeliner looks hot on rocker guys, but on your average joe? Besides that, there’s nothing different in a men’s eyeliner than a woman’s. So if a guy IS into makeup, he could just use the gal’s stuff. What do you think?
