Came across these great pictures of Ashlee Simpson from over the summer. This was during Ashlee’s “hippie phase” which thankfully did not seem to last that long!

Ashlee visited her hubby Pete Wentz at the American Century Championship held at Edgewood golf course in Nevada. (This was the trip back in July where her and Pete went down and then Jess and Tony met them there.

I love Pete’s tee shirt in these pictures, and his glasses. Ashlee’s headband? Not so much.

Man, Jessica Simpson is getting criticized all over the place these days. The latest is this jab because of an outfit Jessica wore recently while in Lake Tahoe. It’s a red, low-cut dress with heels.

Personally, I don’t think this little number is one of her worst, but the Daily Mail definitely disagrees. They said, “To some of her fans, she is a fashion icon and style personified. But we suspect even her most ardent followers won’t be copying Jessica Simpson’s porn star look.”

Ouch.

In a recent giveaway I asked readers to vote on the most fashionable Simpson sister. It should be no surprise that this was a tough thing to give an opinion on. After all, Jessica and Ashlee Simpson each have their own unique sense of style.

It’s a good thing I was chose a winner at random for this one, because like you guys I’m torn between the two sisters. And our winner is: Helen! Helen won a copy of A Girl Like Moi: The Fashion Forward Adventures of Imogene. Congrats.

But how did the rest of the voting go? First I have to say this was closest yet in Jess and Ashlee history. Many of you said you like Jessica’s more classic fashion style but also loved Ashlee’s funky vibe. I have to agree. A couple of you actually said you’d hoped Jessica would learn to get out of her “label rut” and try some out-of-the-fashion box items for a change.

By the SMALLEST of margins, however, more of you said Ashlee was more fashionable than Jessica. (Ashlee won by just seven votes.)

A few of you said you liked the versatility that Ashlee shows. She can glam up for a special event, like this classic little black dress with pearl necklace for the Conde Nast Traveler 8th Annual Hot List party:

With Ashlee, you never quite know what you’re going to get next. Will she change her hair? Wear some funky hippie outfit? Go for a glammed up vibe? We wait with anticipation!

We know Ashlee Simpson will need to wear some mommy-to-be-appropriate outfits in the next few months, but I can’t say I’m too keen on this look. Ashlee was photographed on her way to a friend’s house in this get-up. (Let’s hope it was a costume party.)

I say this is a definite NAY. But more importantly, what do you think?

This toulsed blonde style is perfect for a night out or just romping around during the day. It’s messy enough where she doesn’t look too much like her sister, but still remains uniquely herself.

4.) Platinum Blonde

This is a hard look to pull off. The extreme lightness of hair color can make you look washed out. But Ashlee knows what she’s doing with the makeup and clothing. I love her top and scarf as well. Tres chic!

3.) Dark blonde bob.

After sporting her dark hair during the release of her first album, it was shocking at first to see her go back to a lighter color. But the updated cut went perfectly with this earthy color.

2.) Dark rocker chick.

When Ashlee released her first record, she decided to change things up and go dark. This was one of the best styles I’ve ever seen on her. The cut is very nice for her face shape and the dark color really highlights her gorgeous face.

Love the color, love the cut on this style. It goes perfect with her coloring and I like how the style is easy enough to change with a pony tail or clip.
