With all this attention on Jessica lately, it’s about time we paid a little attention to Ashlee. Dontcha think?

Recently the site BeautyRiot.com listed Ashlee as the second most popular star when it came to trendsetting. Ashlee has taken this honor in the past, but this time around she fell second to her buddy Nicole Richie.

We still think Ashlee is the biggest trendsetter around!

If you didn’t know better, you’d think Jessica Simpson purposely wore that hideous outfit at the chili cookout just so she could get some extra media attention.

She didn’t - of course - but the result has certainly been favorable for her. Everybody and their sister has weighed in (pun intended!) on this. Jessica has received kudos from everyone from the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance to Kim Kardashian to even ex-hubby Nick Lachey.

In Touch Weekly and People will both have Jessica on their covers this week. US Magazine actually bumped new president Barack Obama in order to put Jess on the cover.

This is more publicity than when she turned country!

But hey - Jess would probably be the first to tell you that with any setback there is always a silver lining somewhere within. Perhaps all this attention will not only turn the media off the scrutiny, but change the way Jessica herself markets her brand. She doesn’t need to strut around in a bikini in a semi-pornographic video in order to get attention. She can just sing, and be herself. That’s why most of her fans love her anyway.

Ashlee Simpson came out to support Barack Obama by joining others in recording a message for him. You’ll see her enter the building and leave (and the very end) in this clip:

Don’t you love the photogs are they shout things out to Ash? I like the one who is saying, “How’s that baby, Ashlee. Say hi to Bronx!”

For some reason that really makes me laugh. I’d hate to do that all day just to get a pic. But it’s nice that’s we get to see our girl around town again.

I can’t imagine what it must be like for Jessica Simpson to see herself ramble on and on about Nick Lachey. Most of us break up with someone and then usually don’t have to see or hear from them again. But she has tons of video where she is gushing, and it’s gotta be awkward to see now.

But we still like seeing it, don’t we? In this clip, Jessica is at the recording studio singing “Take My Breath Away” and “Angels.” She talks about how Nick basically “took her breath away” (cheesy, I know) and then warbles the song. It’s not her best sound, although the final version does sound good in my opinion. All the more reason I don’t think she should do the videos that show her in the studio. She’s not always good live.

Jess talks more about the “different sides” of her, from the Newlywed’s side to the more serious side. Then she sings “Angels” in the studio. Again, she doesn’t sound good on this take, but it is interesting to hear her spective and why she’s recording the song.

We’ve played a lot of Jessica Simpson Christmas music over the past few weeks, but here’s one more. This is her performance at Rockerfeller Center in 2004 singing “What Child Is This.”
