Jessica Simpson’s Grand Ole Opry Debut
September 16, 2008 by Cherie
Jessica Simpson made her Grand Ole Opry debut last week, and by all accounts country fans were impressed. According to MSNBC, fans cheered after each song and seemed pleased with her performance. As with many of her other country concerts these days, Jess took time out to describe each song she sang and talked about why it was important personally to her. Regarding the song “Remember That” she told the crowd that “she burst into tears the first times she heard” it and that she “knew God wanted her to sing it.” ~source
Jess sang a number of songs from her new album, Do You Know, including “Come On Over.” Here’s the video from that performance.
One piece of criticism Jessica did receive had to do with her outfit. Fans and reviewers alike dissed the dress she chose, saying it revealed just a bit too much. Do you agree? Here’s the dress and story from E!. What do you think?
Jessica Simpson’s New Album Out Today!

Today’s the day!
Jessica Simpson’s new country album, Do You Know, is officially released.
Will you buy it? As you can see by the poll at right, the majority said you definitely will buy Do You Know today and that you’re a Jessica fan all the way. But it’s close to those who think Jess is a poser and said they wouldn’t buy it. Some of those folks may be Ashlee fans more than Jessica, but my prediction is that Jessica’s record will be a hit.
I like many of the songs on Do You Know. Looks like I’m not alone. Even though the album has generally gotten 2-3 stars out of 5 with critics, they still maintain that’s worth the money. And as this reviewer pointed out, “Regardless of what the critics think, Simpson has already won over perhaps her toughest audience: country radio.”
That means you’re likely to hear the songs on Do You Know a lot in the upcoming weeks and months.
Here’s the songlist:
1. Come On Over
2. Remember That
3. Pray Out Loud
4. You’re My Sunday
5. Sipping On History
6. Still Beautiful
7. Still Don’t Stop Me
8. When I Loved You Like That
9. Might As Well Be Making Love
10. Man Enough
11. Do You Know (with Dolly Parton)
Video: Jessica Simpson on Extra

Jessica Simpson was on Extra the other night talking about the video for “Come on Over.” She was very cute and funny! She looked great in a blue dress and was very down to earth about how her country album came about.
She said she spent three weeks working in Nashville, which might not seem like a lot to write an entire album but that’s how those country folks do it. They usually assign you a couple songwriters to work with, and you just sit there and intensively write. So it’s not unusual that Jess did it that way, in fact I’d say it’s probably a good sign.
Jessica did joke that the three week writing thing was hard to do, “especially with all the people I’ve dated,” referring of course to writing personal songs about some of her break ups. Enjoy the clip:

Jessica Simpson has been chatting with country music DJ’s throughout the country, and now she’s gonna take her new single on the road. One report says that she’ll showcase her “forthcoming Columbia Nashville album at fairs and festivals this summer.”
If you live in Twin Lakes, (WI); Indianapolis, (IN); Monterey, (CA); or Omaha, (NE), you may be able to get a peak at her new country show.
I’m curious to see if she’s going to change up her stage style at all. When she was on The View she seemed to bring a bit more “twang” to her singing. One thing is for sure, the country music community seems to be welcoming Jessica with open arms.
