Papa Joe’s Parenting Advice to Ashlee Simpson
November 9, 2008 by Cherie
Papa Joe Simpson was out on Thursday, and he couldn’t help himself from talking about daughter Ashlee and the new baby about to enter their lives. He joked that he was too young to be a grand-dad and then gave the ultimate Simpson parenting advice, “Hold on for deal life! Because it’s a ride.”
You got that right. If Ashlee’s baby is anything like Jessica or her, she’ll be in for fun times! Music business! Boyfriends! Lip synching!
Aw… but on the other hand there you’ve got two talented kids who are unlike anyone else. I doubt Joe’s complaining.
Papa Joe Simpson Speaks Out on Ashlee’s Pregnancy
November 7, 2008 by Cherie
It’s been a while since we heard from Joe Simpson, hasn’t it? He was pretty vocal about Jessica dating Tony Romo, but we really haven’t heard a word about what he thinks about Ashlee and her soon-to-be-quest into motherhood.
Until now.
So… do you think he said he was excited at the prospect of becoming a grandpa? Or that he was so very proud of both his daughters?
Uh… no.
Instead he said that the day Ashlee “found out she was pregnant, she became a woman.”
Okay, Joe. At least he didn’t comment on her bra size.
Point of Grace Meets Jessica Simpson at Country Fest
August 13, 2008 by Cherie
Jessica Simpson is making all kinds of fans in country music it seems. Even other artists.
I caught this cute video blog from the country and Christian group Point of Grace. The members are filming their first experience at country fest, and one of the first celebs they see is none other than our own Jessica Simpson. They stood in line waiting to meet her, and then got a few pictures with her to boot. They also joked about seeing her dad, Papa Joe, and about mentioning how much they loved Nick Lachey. (All in jest, of course.)
Still, it was sweet to see how excited they were. Jess has star power!
Pete Wentz Wants to Make Music for His Baby
July 28, 2008 by Cherie
Fatherhood is definitely changing Pete Wentz. Even before his first child is born, he already wants to make music for it. He says, “It is really affecting what I am writing. Even to the extent that I am coming up with kids’ tunes!” ~ source
He says he also doesn’t care about “stupid things” anymore. Well, fatherhood is bound to change a guy, and if it doesn’t… there’s usually a problem. Pete also said he’s reading a lot of books on being a dad and (are you ready for this) “consulting with his father and father-in-law.”~source
Let’s just hope Papa Joe told him not to talk about his dauther’s breasts. Ever. Even if she’s a pop or country star and has double D’s. He also said that looking after Ashlee and their two new puppies is “making him act like his father.”
Funny how that will happen! (Says this blogger who also has a brand new puppy.)

Win a Copy of How to Tell He’s Not the One In 10 Days
July 8, 2008 by Cherie
I’ve got another great giveaway here at Jess and Ashlee. We’ve talked a lot about both Ashlee and Jessica Simpson’s love lives , so I thought it was only fitting that we give away a book called, “How to Tell He’s Not the One In 10 Days.”
The book is written by Michele Alexander and Jeannie Long. Those are the two clever gals who wrote the book, “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.” (They made the film based on that book.)
This is a short, fun little book (complete with stick figure drawings as illustrations) that gives you hints day by day on how you can tell if a guy is worth holding on to. I laughed my way through this little number, because some of the “signs” they give are ones I’ve actually experienced! Given the problems that Jessica Simpson has had with her love life the last few years, I almost wanted to send this book to her!
But I’m not going to do that. What I will do is let one of you loyal Jessica and Ashlee readers get it. Like I said, the book is meant to be tongue in cheek and very fun. And who of us couldn’t use a little more fun in our world, eh?
Since Ashlee is now happily married, and Jessica is still hanging in there with Tony, let’s have a little fun with this contest as well. It’s been rumored that Jessica and Tony were ring shopping at one point and definitely talking marriage (before they broke up… and got back together…. and….) well, doesn’t it make you wonder what kind of son-in-law Tony Romo would be?
So for this contest, leave a comment about who you think would make a better son-in-law to Papa Joe: Pete Wentz or Tony Romo. the contest will end on Tuesday, July 15th. I’ve got two copies to give away so we’ll have two winners. Good luck!
Tony Romo Says: I Love Papa Joe!

First he complains about Jess’s dad sticking his nose where it doesn’t belong, and now he denies it.
Yes, folks, we’re talking about Tony Romo. He told People Mag in a statement that the “characterization is so far from the truth.”
In a statement.
Well, here’s the thing. Tony might have realized that he likes dating Jess. After all, she’s cute, she increases his popularity, and she just asked him to be in a music video. So hey, why not stick around why the getting is good?
I also think Papa Joe called up Tony and told him to shut his yap. If he called Tony and asked him to please take Jess to Ashlee’s wedding, anything’s possible. All I can say is Jess would be right to dump this guy and move on to some nice country stud with a normal sized-ego.
Is Papa Joe Simpson Really the Problem When It Comes to Jessica’s Love Life?

Well Papa Joe Simpson is getting flack all over for causing problems with his daughter’s relationships. Or Jessica’s, to be specific. We told you a couple weeks ago that it was Papa Joe’s meddling that was driving Jessica and Tony apart.
Several sites, including MSN and the LA Times have now run stories on this issue as well.
Access Hollywood even ran a clip devoted to Papa Joe’s intrusive nature:
Here’s the part that I find interesting. Do you notice how Ashlee really isn’t a part of this story? Yeah, sure, they talk about the wedding pictures that ran in People, but really, that’s something every celeb manager pushes for. Besides that, it didn’t break Ashlee and Pete up.
There’s no doubt that Joe has gotten opportunities for both daughters, as any manager should. But it’s only Jessica’s love life that he’s really messed up. He’s made crude stage parent comments about her body (remember the “DD” dity?) and he pushed for her and Nick to have that reality show when they were married all of twelve minutes.
For Joe’s part, he’s said that he’s not , “They [Ashlee and Jessica] don’t call me and ask me. They call me and tell me.”
I think the question isn’t whether Joe Simpson is a buttinsky with the girls, but whether Jessica can stand on her own two feet for the first time in her life.
Tony Romo Says Papa Joe Must Back Off
May 29, 2008 by Cherie
Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson are apparently still trying to work things out. As we told ya, they had dinner together and seemed to be playing nice after Ashlee’s wedding (and after the two had a little time apart).
We also told ya that Joe Simpson’s constant meddling seemed to drive the two lovebirds apart. It’s not enough that he’s also “hanging around” but now is apparently giving unwanted advice to Tony.
Here’s a recent video from The Daily Ten with some more info on the twosome:
Ashlee Simpson: I’m Pretty Together
May 9, 2008 by Cherie
Photographers caught up with Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz as they were arriving at a downtown hotel in New York City. Check out Pete’s huge sunglasses:
Man, those two travel a lot! They were both just in Europe, now in New York. While in London Ashlee spoke to reporters about other young celebs who have been all over the news for their out of control behavior, and she says she’s not like that.
She said, “I’m almost 24, I’m pretty together and I’m getting married.”
True. I would agree with that, wouldn’t you? She also says Pete’s a great influence on her, supportive yet honest. Ashlee did claim that the folks in her life didn’t have control over her, which I think is an interesting statment given the fact that her dad is her manager. I think Ashlee has really been able to break out on her own, while her sister has fallen more under the influence of Papa Joe. Could this be because Jessica was so doted on when she was younger that she craves that attention now? While Ashlee learned early on to do her own thing? If so, it means Ashlee is probably in a stronger place in her life right now than her sister was at that age.
