Well we just had the flashback

Here’s the very cute promo with Ellen talking about the upcoming show:
Chace Crawford was also on the show, and talked about parking Jessica’s car before he was famous:
Here’s Jess’ interview.
I think she did a great job, don’t you?
Jessica sang “Remember That” live:
Did you notice how she had the same outfit on here as she did the other day when she was leaving Katsuya the other night?
Jessica Simpson’s Sipping on History
October 11, 2008 by Cherie
Jessica Simpson is getting a lot of attention for songs like “Come on Over,” “Remember That,” and “You’re My Sunday,” these days, but here’s a song off her new album that I’ve heard much and I really like. It’s called “Sipping on History.” Not sure if this one will be released as a hit, but it’s pretty good. See what you think:

October 4, 2008 by Cherie
Jessica Simpson will open for the Rascal Flatts “Bob that Head” tour for 2009. It’s 25 shows, and come January the schedule will be released. The first leg of the tour was sold out, so this is a great boost for Jess’s career.

Jessica Simpson Talks About Babies, Abuse, and Singing Your Butt Off
September 30, 2008 by Cherie
There’s an interesting interview over at MSN with Jessica Simpson. When asked about what she wanted people to learn about her from this record, she said after the divorce it took her a while to move on and actually start working again. She said, “With this record I think that people will experience my heart again and experience my voice again.”
She also lashed out at Nick Lachey at bit. When she was talking about her album A Public Affair, she said she shouldn’t have released it because she was going through a hard time. She said, “Nick had released his album and he was talking about us and I couldn’t believe it, I was so hurt. I felt like he was using our divorce as some kind of promotion.”
Once again Jessica is backing down from questions about the abuse she claimed she experienced. The reviewer asked:
“You’ve said that every song on “Do You Know” is a piece of your heart. “Remember That” is about an abusive relationship. What piece of your heart is that?
Jessica’s response: “I think it’s important for women to find value and self worth in themselves in every relationship that they’re in. And abusive, controlling situations are extremely hard to break free from.” And “Whenever you do find that confidence to take your heart and run from the situation, it’s a burden lifted off of your shoulders.”
I do find it odd that whenever she is asked about the abuse, she continually goes back to this line in the song. (That she DIDN’T even write!) In my opinion she should come clean about this or back off the subject.
Jessica also talks about the whole Dolly Parton “9-5″ fiasco (where Jess forgot the words to the song) and she quotes this very funny piece from Dolly. “I was working and couldn’t come into the studio. [My dad] videotaped it for me. She looks into the camera and said, “Well Jessica, you sung your butt off and I sang my butt off and so now we’re two blondes with no asses!”
Dolly sounds like a hoot. Read the rest of the interview and let us know what you think.

Jessica Simpson on The Early Show
September 26, 2008 by Cherie
Jessica Simpson was on The Early Show last week and chatted about her flub in goofing up the words to “9 to 5,” and how that’s now turned out to be a blessing because she’s gotten a chance to work with Dolly Parton. She also talked about how her love for Tony Romo saved her from the stress of everything that has happened to her in the last few years.
In this clip, she sings “With You.”
Here she sings “Remember That” and then talks about how “any woman in an abusive situation should take their heart and run as fast as they can.” I guess personally I would believe her more about this abuse thing if she didn’t repeat the line from the song over and over as a response to the question. It makes it seem as if she is just trying to sell records and isn’t sincere.
And last but not least, here’s Jess singing “Come on Over.”
Jessica Simpson Sings at the Nina’s Night Out Event
September 22, 2008 by Cherie
Jessica Simpson lent her voice to the 5th Annual Nina’s Night Out in Las Vegas last week to help raise money for The Rape Crisis Center. She told one source, “It’s important to make a stand for women’s rights. If I can get up there and be any inspiration to women, I am blessed to have that opportunity.”
Here’s some great pictures and video from that event.
Jessica Simpson Called “An Insult to Train Wrecks”
August 30, 2008 by Cherie
Just when you think Jessica Simpson is making a positive impression on the country world, she appears onstage in a gingham dress and looks like she’s ready to pull out a bail of hay.
Could the dress she wore have brought on this very negative review of her latest performance in which she was called an “insult to train wrecks”? Possibly.
According to one source, “music critic John Law took Simpson to task for her disappointing show.” He caught her performance in Niagra Falls, and said:
“It might be unfair calling Jessica Simpson’s show at the Avalon Ballroom Wednesday a train wreck. At some point, a train knows where it’s going.”
One thing that put this critic off was Jessica’s “need for approval” up on stage. She seemed to talk too much between songs about previous relationships, her need for love, and what each song supposedly means to her. She’s gotten a lot of attention for talking about Tony Romo too much up on stage too.
The reporter goes on to say, “Simpson arguably brought on the harsh criticism herself, spending several minutes between songs to explain what each one was about in her trademark oblivious style.”
It didn’t help that at another point she called “Dusty Springfield” DESTINY Springfield either.
The general feeling is that critics don’t take her seriously and don’t think this latest move to country will last for the long haul. Fans will get a chance to voice their opinions when Jessica’s album comes out September 9th. Will you buy it?
Jessica Simpson’s Abuse Claim
August 4, 2008 by Cherie
Jessica Simpson has had a few rotten relationships. Nothing too dramatic. I mean, by the time I was her age….. (eeek - I shutter to think). She had what seemed like a fairy tale marriage to Nick Lachey, but it’s obvious those two were not meant to be together. After her divorce, however, she tried to date a lot of really different guys. And this was a smart thing. When you marry so young (and especially because she met Nick when she was very young), you really don’t get to see what types of people would be the best ones for you.
And now, she’s gone country. While it might be a cliché that country music is all about lost love and anguish, Jessica is using her songs to get the gripes about her failed relationships off her chest. These days, she’s getting a lot of attention for the song, “Remember That” which supposedly reflects her “abusive relationship with an unnamed ex.” ~source
Also, for those of you that might think it’s John Mayer (as I did for some reason when I first heard this - must be the whole dying her hair thing) I doubt that it was, because she said, “He cherished our love. He helped make me the woman I am today.”
I also question exactly what type of abuse she suffered. I’m not trying to be cynical, but for someone like Jess that’s had a relatively charmed life, someone telling her they didn’t love her might be labeled as abuse in her book.
I’m not the only one who’s questioning this. X17 gave some additional info on the interview Jessica did with Elle magazine. When Jessica brought this up, the Elle writer asked her, “I understand you’ve felt emotionally abused, but you’re not telling me that you’ve experienced physical abuse as well, are you?”
“I don’t want to talk about it,” Jess responded, after pausing, “but I have definitely experienced abuse in a way that I would tell people to take their heart and run.”
X17 goes on to say:
“Hmm, sorry, we’re a little confused… didn’t Ms. Simpson bring this all up in the first place? Feels kinda like her confession is only a half-truth! Either A, she’s just opening up (it’s not like she owes the world to reveal something personal) and that’s totally okay… or B, she’s just trying to promote her album.”
Abuse doesn’t happen because you can’t have your way or someone doesn’t think you’re the hottest thing on the planet. It doesn’t come from someone cheating on you. It doesn’t come from someone deciding one day that they don’t really love you.
I know a lot of women who have suffered physical and emotional abuse. I am one of them. So I know this subject very well. I’d like to believe Jess, but I fear she might be throwing the word “abuse” around very lightly.
But, as always, I’m more interested in what you think. Do you think Jessica was really abused?
