Video: Jessica Simpson in North Charleston Concert

January 26, 2009 by Cherie

Jessica Simpson has been traveling with Rascal Flatts and played in North Charleston, South Carolina over the weekend.

Here’s a few snippets from her concert. We’ll start off with her song, “Angels.” I think it sounded great.

Here she is singing “Remember That.” This one sounded a little screechy to me.

Here’s Jess singing what is probably her favorite song, “You’re My Sunday.” Every time she sings this she mentions Tony Romo. Her top slips off her shoulder here and she has to readjust it.

Here’s another part of that song. Again, this one sounds a bit like she was shouting.

Of course she sang “Come on Over.” She sounded slightly bored when she sang this, but then again she’s probably getting sick of this song. It’s been out quite a while.

Jessica Simpson

Merry Christmas to all the Jessica and Ashlee readers out there!

I hope you have a wonderful day, filled with family and friends and faith.

You didn’t think I’d forget about you all on Christmas, did you? Here’s a clip from last year when Jessica Simpson sang at Walt Disney World for their parade. The fan on YouTube who posted this said Jessica forgot the words for the taping and had to start again. That’s our Jess! (Hey, at least she was singing live.)

Jessica and Ashlee Simpson Sing “Little Drummer Boy”

December 11, 2008 by Cherie

We’ve showed the video of Ashlee and Jessica Simpson singing “Little Drummer Boy” from the Christmas special they did. But here’s another version that someone put together with just photos of the girls along with the song. I love this video!

First of all, the pictures are fun because they show Ashlee and Jessica from over the years and they have all different hairdos and clothes. But then you get the hear the song without seeing that horrible video of Ashlee and Jessica from the special. I’m telling you, I never realized how good this song sounded before until I was able to listen to it without seeing that horrible video clip from the Christmas special.

Their voices really are complementary.

Which one do you like better?

Flashback: Jessica Simpson Jumps Out of a Cake for Nick Lachey’s Birthday

October 18, 2008 by Cherie

This is a quick video from the Newlywed’s days of Jessica Simpson singing “Happy Birthday” to her then husband Nick Lachey. Jess’ voice is actually quite strong and sounds great in this clip, but I doubt anyone else is paying attention to her singing voice!

For his part, Nick looks like he’s having a blast. Enjoy:

Jessica Simpson Talks About Babies, Abuse, and Singing Your Butt Off

September 30, 2008 by Cherie

There’s an interesting interview over at MSN with Jessica Simpson. When asked about what she wanted people to learn about her from this record, she said after the divorce it took her a while to move on and actually start working again. She said, “With this record I think that people will experience my heart again and experience my voice again.”

She also lashed out at Nick Lachey at bit. When she was talking about her album A Public Affair, she said she shouldn’t have released it because she was going through a hard time. She said, “Nick had released his album and he was talking about us and I couldn’t believe it, I was so hurt. I felt like he was using our divorce as some kind of promotion.”

Once again Jessica is backing down from questions about the abuse she claimed she experienced. The reviewer asked:

“You’ve said that every song on “Do You Know” is a piece of your heart. “Remember That” is about an abusive relationship. What piece of your heart is that?

Jessica’s response: “I think it’s important for women to find value and self worth in themselves in every relationship that they’re in. And abusive, controlling situations are extremely hard to break free from.” And “Whenever you do find that confidence to take your heart and run from the situation, it’s a burden lifted off of your shoulders.”

I do find it odd that whenever she is asked about the abuse, she continually goes back to this line in the song. (That she DIDN’T even write!) In my opinion she should come clean about this or back off the subject.

Jessica also talks about the whole Dolly Parton “9-5″ fiasco (where Jess forgot the words to the song) and she quotes this very funny piece from Dolly. “I was working and couldn’t come into the studio. [My dad] videotaped it for me. She looks into the camera and said, “Well Jessica, you sung your butt off and I sang my butt off and so now we’re two blondes with no asses!”

Dolly sounds like a hoot. Read the rest of the interview and let us know what you think.

Jessica Simpson Video: I’ll Never Go Back to Pop Music Again

July 23, 2008 by Cherie

Jessica Simpson vowed to the crowds during Country Thunder last weekend that she’d never go back to pop music again. (We have it on tape, people!) She rambled a bit, talking about when she forgot the words to her own song (which were also written on a cue card) and how happy she was to be back on stage.

You can tell she’s very nervous but her rendition of “Come on Over” was well received.

Jessica Simpson Sings With David Bisbal

July 10, 2008 by Cherie

I love to see Jessica Simpson sing with people. To this day, I think the best person she ever sang with is still Nick Lachey. Nick had the ability to hold his own next to her, and pretty much ignored the diva-isms Jess is so well known for.

But I’m always on the hunt for a great duet. I found one here from the Latin Grammy’s a couple years ago. That cutie Jessica is singing with is David Bisbal, a Latin singer with a gorgeous voice (and face, and bod…).

There are a couple things that stand out for me with this performance. First, Jessica hit some beautiful notes in the beginning of the song. Then, she went into her “diva mode” and started singing through her nose. She has such a lovely voice when she doesn’t do that. I do hope with the new country music venture that she feels comfortable enough singing without those theatrics.

Second, her dress is completely see through. When she walks on stage you can totally see her legs. I think that takes away from her otherwise beautiful dress. In addition to that, David has a huge belt buckle which doesn’t quite make his white Fantasy Island suit.

Other than that, this guy can sing! Jessica is put to shame singing next to him. She really tries to match his vocal strength, especially towards the end, but she can’t. Still, I’d love to see her record a duet with him in the future. If she can just tone down the nose singing and let that beautiful voice fly they would sound great together. Enjoy this video:

Flashback Friday: Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey Sing on The View

June 27, 2008 by Cherie

Jessica Simpson was on The View earlier this week performing her new country single, “Come on Over.”

When I saw that video, I was struck by the difference a few years makes. I think Jessica has improved with age, and also performs much better as well. She and Nick Lachey were on The View singing “Where You Are” way back in 2000. Jessica’s mannerisms are divalicious, and while she sounds good she’s very hard to watch. It almost looks like someone doing a parody of Jessica Simpson.

Thank goodness she’s getting away from that. Still, it’s fun to look back. Check it out:

Jessica Simpson on the View

June 25, 2008 by Cherie

Jessica Simpson was on The View today to promote her new single, “Come on Over.”

Of course The View ladies couldn’t let her get away with just singing. They asked her about Tony Romo and she said, “We’re still together … we’ve been together for about seven months — almost eight,” she said. “I don’t know about wedding bells … but I’m still with him, so that’s a good sign.” ~source

It’s gotta be really craptacular to have to talk about your on again/off again boyfriend on national TV. I feel for her.

On a more positive note, she sounded great and finally did away with those ridiculous theatrics that make her look like a Christina Aguilera wannabe. Country does seem to suit her better. Here’s the video:

Flashback Friday: Jessica Simpson in The Little Mermaid

Jessica Simpson did a great job as the singing voice of Ariel in The Little Mermaid. Here’s a look back at her singing Part of Your World for this flashback Friday.
